We are pleased to introduce the Southlands Farm 4-Week Learn to Ride & Handle Horses Intro Package: Fundamentals for Horsemanship. This fun, beginner-friendly program, starting in January 2026, teaches responsibility, horsemanship, and riding fundamentals, without the high cost of private lessons.
This program is an ideal fit for parents who:
- want beginner riding lessons but feel priced out.
- are searching for a fun and educational activity.
- value having their child learn safety and horsemanship basics before riding.
At Southlands Heritage Farm, we use the Equine Canada teaching formula to build strong foundations, creating confident and responsible riders.
Program Details:
This 4-week program offers the simplest and most accessible way to learn the fundamentals of horsemanship and riding, covering everything from catching and handling a horse to tacking up, mounting, and steering.
After completing the program, your child will:
- Feel confident and comfortable around horses.
- Learn responsibility before riding independently.
- Build balance and coordination in a safe environment.
- Gain real skills and pride in their learning.
What is included:
- 4-week beginner program (horsemanship + riding fundamentals)
- Small group instruction (maximum 4 kids)
- Two instructors per lesson
- Safety equipment (helmets provided)
Schedule & Enrollment:
Cost: $276 per person plus GST
Age Requirements: This program is designed for children aged 7 to 11.
Class Schedule (Tuesdays):
| Session 1 | January 6, 13, 20, 27 | 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM |
| Session 2 | January 6, 13, 20, 27 | 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM |
What to wear: Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, boots with a heel, and tight-fitting riding pants or tights are preferred. We run lessons rain, snow, or shine.
Make-up Lesson Policy: Due to the program's short duration, we are unable to offer make-up lessons.
Limited space is available, as we cap groups at four children to provide safety and quality instruction. Enroll now to secure your child’s place in our January session.
